Online Therapy (Teletherapy)

My practice is fully virtual.

    • research shows that teletherapy can be just as effective as therapy conducted in person

    • more accessible to individuals who have difficulty leaving home due to chronic pain, lack of transportation, having children at home, COVID-19 precautions, etc.

    • easier to fit into schedule

    • some people find teletherapy to be more comfortable because you can be in your own space near pets, comfort items, etc.

    • some people prefer the sense of connection that comes from being in a shared physical space

    • may be hard to find a private, confidential space at home

    • sometimes have to deal with frustrations like internet/technology issues and disruptive background noise

    • teletherapy may not be appropriate for every person’s therapeutic needs

  • No, but...

    • you must be physically located in California (the only state I am licensed in)

    • it's important to be stationary (not driving or walking around) and in a private space

    • if possible, I recommend using a laptop or computer for our sessions rather than a phone or ipad

    • close excess open tabs in order to support your internet connection

    • consider using a sound machine if you are concerned about privacy

    • consider setting aside time before each session to check in with yourself and get a sense of what you’d like to focus on during the session

  • No; teletherapy can be highly experiential. I successfully facillitate somatic therapies, EMDR, sandtray therapy (see below), and other experiential/creative modalities virtually.
