Creature Comfort Therapy

Psychotherapy with Lou Ursa, LMFT

Who I work with: Those who reach out to me tend to be creative, queer, autistic, &/or ADHD. Most have histories of childhood abuse and childhood emotional neglect.

What I can help with: Common struggles faced by folks I work with include anxiety, depression, OCD, executive functioning challenges, self-esteem issues, CPTSD/PTSD, social/relationship struggles, dissociative tendencies, and stress related to life transitions or loss of direction.

My style: I have been described as warm, authentic, and easy to talk to. I’m a gentle yet direct communicator who embraces humor. I value consent, intersectionality, accessibility, and curiosity.

How I work: I offer an attuned, collaborative space where I listen closely and get to know you as a whole person—your history, interests, and everyday experiences. I draw from my knowledge of the nervous system, trauma, and attachment to support our work together. My approach is influenced by somatics, gestalt therapy, expressive arts, and existential therapy. I’m trained and able to offer EMDR and ketamine-assisted psychotherapy (KAP). I adapt the way I work to fit your neurotype, pace, and preferences.

Please note that my practice is entirely online at this time, available for adults located across California.

About Lou:

I live in Santa Cruz with my wife, our chihuahua (my son), and our orange cat (my other son). Outside of being a therapist, I spend most of my time creating analog collages and paper mâché objects, knitting, sewing, and dabbling in other fiber art mediums. I love backpacking, kayaking, snow shoeing & gardening.

I earned my Master’s Degree in Depth Psychotherapy from Pacifica Graduate Institute in 2021.
