Creature Comfort Therapy

Psychotherapy with Lou Ursa, LMFT

Who I work with: Those who reach out to me tend to be creative, queer, autistic, &/or ADHD. Most have histories of childhood abuse and childhood emotional neglect. These are all experiences that I personally identify with.

What I can help with: Common struggles faced by folks I work with include anxiety, depression, OCD, executive functioning challenges, self-esteem issues, CPTSD/PTSD, social/relationship struggles, dissociative tendencies, and stress related to life transitions or loss of direction.

My style: I have been described as warm, authentic, and easy to talk to. I’m a gentle yet direct communicator who embraces humor. I value consent, intersectionality, accessibility, and curiosity.

How I work: I offer an attuned, collaborative space where I listen closely, ask thoughtful questions, and get to know you as a whole person—your history, interests, and everyday experiences. I draw from my knowledge of the nervous system, trauma, and attachment to support our work together. My approach is influenced by somatics, gestalt therapy, and existential therapy. I adapt the way I work to fit your neurotype and preferences.

Please note that my practice is entirely online at this time, available for adults located across California.

About Lou:

I live in Santa Cruz with my wife, our chihuahua (my son), and our orange cat (my other son). Outside of being a therapist, I spend most of my time creating analog collages and paper mâché objects, knitting, sewing, and dabbling in other fiber art mediums. I love backpacking, kayaking, snow shoeing & gardening.

I earned my Master’s Degree in Depth Psychotherapy from Pacifica Graduate Institute in 2021.
