Creature Comfort Therapy
Lou Ursa, LMFT
Welcome,
You may be seeking support with chronic overwhelm or deep, unshakable shame. You may be carrying the pain of being misunderstood or the exhaustion of living life in survival mode. You may be struggling to connect with others. I hope to provide a soft landing place where you can get to know yourself, find greater ease, and grow beyond the patterns of self-protection that keep you from the life you hope to live.
I am experienced in working with Autistic folks, ADHD’ers, highly sensitive & creative types ~ complex PTSD and developmental trauma (and all that these entail) ~ supporting gender exploration, creative exploration, spiritual exploration ~ addressing OCD, body image issues, religious trauma, climate grief/anxiety ~ and working with those living with chronic pain/chronic illness.
I work eclectically depending on your needs and the approach to therapy that works best for you.
I am generally drawn to and influenced by the following modalities:
gestalt therapy (humanistic-existential)
depth psychology (psychodynamic, Jungian)
eye movement desensitization therapy (EMDR)
working with dreams
ecopsychology/ecotherapy
somatics
parts work
expressive arts therapy
climate-aware therapy
feminist therapy

More about me…
I currently live in Santa Cruz with my partner, our dog & cat. I am queer and use they/them pronouns.
I like to spend my time crafting chaotically and making art messily. I enjoy watching cartoons & comfort shows, reading non-fiction books or cozy mysteries and snuggling with my dog. I love hiking, camping, backpacking and doing activities to connect with the seasons. I wish I had my own personal roller coaster that I could ride whenever I want!
I chose to become a therapist because therapy has been & continues to be a huge support in my own life. I have lived experience of neurodivergence and of the psychological impacts of enduring an abusive and emotionally neglectful childhood. I intimately understand the experience of struggling daily with mental wellbeing and hope to be a support to others who may be experiencing something similar.
