Creature Comfort Therapy

Lou Ursa, LMFT

The only way to deal with an unfree world is to become so absolutely free that your very existence is an act of rebellion. ~Camus

Who I work with:

Most who reach out to me are creative and sensitive types, queer, autistic &/or adhd. You may have been raised by emotionally immature parents/caregivers and are now navigating the lasting impacts of a traumatic, abusive, or emotionally neglectful childhood. You may find yourself stuck in moods and patterns that are incongruent with the life you want to live. You may be hoping to explore authentic self-expression, whether that be in the realms of gender, sexuality, neurodivergence, creativity, spirituality, or just in general. Whatever the reason for seeking therapy, I cherish the opportunity to get to know you.

How I work:

I offer depth-oriented, humanistic, existential therapy. While therapy certainly involves looking to the past, we’ll also bring awareness to the present. What’s emerging within you right here, right now? I’ll support you in getting fully in touch with all aspects of your experience (emotions, sensations, images, thoughts, memories, etc.). Together, we’ll see where this leads you. We can weave in creative expression, somatics, dreamwork, EMDR, and other experiential modes of processing as desired. Finally, we’ll attend to what shows up in the relationship between you and me. Often, relational patterns repeat themselves in the therapeutic space, offering worthwhile exploration.

I’m rooted in trauma-informed practice and prioritize checking in with you about how therapy is feeling and following your pace. I’m culturally sensitive, politically-informed, and maintain an intersectional lens. I acknowledge the validity of intense feelings and existential fears related to the climate crisis and sociopolitical events.

My practice is entirely online. I offer individual therapy to adults of all ages across California.
